My Idea: Capulet meets Romeo at the party, but does not realize he is a Montague because he is masked. Capulet befriends Romeo, and shows Romeo to his daughter, Juliet, because he thinks Romeo a fine gentleman. This is when they first meet, and almost immediately find love at first sight. But Paris sees this and gets into a fight with Romeo. He wants a duel, but Capulet stops them to prevent making a scene.

Curtain rises and there is a party at the Capulet residence
Romeo: (masked) Good Evening to you, dear Sir Capulet,
My name is Trom, a cousin of the Prince.

Capulet: I have never enjoyed your company,
but you seem like a very fine young man,
and my house is thine house, so please enjoy!.
Please sir, I would you try to impress me?
Perhaps a poem-

Romeo: -Thy wish shall come true.
The roses art red, Violets art blue,
however Juliet truly is my real beau.
How may I know of your daughter Juliet,
Thou may ask. I have heard much about her.
That when one lays their eyes upon her form,
All of the other women in the land,
are far more lowly in comparison

Capulet: (interjects) Zounds! Thou lovest mine own daughter, Juliet?
Tis true your words flow like a pristine stream,
but this sudden knowledge takes me by surprise.
I believe your intelligence proves you,
worthy to meet my beautiful Juliet.

Capulet leads Romeo to Juliet, and Capulet introduces the two. Romeo and Juliet begin to speak and they fall in love at first sight. Paris and Tybalt walk by. Capulet leaves to talk with other guests.

Juliet: Wilt thou please take my sin straight from my lips?

Romeo: O God, please forgive this sin which I take.

They lightly kiss.

Paris: Dost I hear the voice of a Montague?
I recognize the accent anywhere.
Juliet I shall save thee from this varlot.

Romeo and Juliet stop kissing after hearing Paris.

Tybalt: Methinks that the voice is that of Romeo,
one of the Montagues which I hate so dearly.

Paris: Thou art knavish rotten carrion, Romeo,
Juliet will only be loved by my heart!
Pluck your sword out of his pilcher by the ears now!
Because I will protect my Juliet.
Her love will always remain only mine!

Juliet: Who is this man who dare interrupt me?

Paris: Juliet, I, Paris, will be thy future man?
Do not waste time with men who are sub-par!
Especially a Montague, thy foe!

Juliet: Thou makest me sick Paris, for I love Romeo!
What meaning does a name, Montague, have?

Romeo: Paris, pardon me. I come just to enjoy myself.

Tybalt: At once draw thy swords and fight each other.

Enter Capulet

Capulet: Silence thyselves! I will have none of this.
There shall be no fighting at my residence,
And my great party will go on as planned.
Fight thy small duels another time, young men,
but tonight you shall abide by my rules.
Romeo, hie now or you shall lose your life.

Exit Tybalt

Juliet: Thou make my soul pale and sickly, Paris,
Thy actions tonight were despicable.
If thou thinks I am easily loved,
Thou art wrong since I can never love you.

Exeunt

I really like the idea of how Paris recognizes a Montague accent. Maybe it would be cool to have Paris and Tybalt talking aside to each other about all the suitors for Juliet. Then they spot Romeo and Juliet getting close and they start ease dropping and that is how they hear the accent. I also like how you did ten syllables it sounds very Shakespearean. Lastly, I wouldn't stress over it but I think that Romeo, being an educated rich man, could come up with an amazing poem more so than Roses are Red Violets are Blue. Also, how does Romeo know Juliet is beautiful before they meet. Bernese Mountain Dog

You did a great job on this. I was confused about a few things, though. First, the line "My name is Rom a cousin of the Prince" doesn't make much sense to me. I think there might be a typo or something. Also, I like the part about Paris recognizing the Montague accent, but did they really have accents? It makes sense that they'd have accents but I don't really know. Is it mentioned somewhere in the play? Either way, I think your piece is really good.

I really like your idea, and I think its creative. I was a little confused about some things though. Had Romeo already seen Juliet, because it seems like he randomly says her name out of nowhere. I also am unsure if Juliet had met Paris prior to this meeting, although he obviously knows her. I also like your language, it sounds very Shakespearean, and I like how you used "Zounds!" I also like how you show that at points you are not straying from the play's original plot of how they fall in love at first glance by taking lines straight from the play. All together I really liked it! Yorkshire Terrier
